The essential information for following Team Gifu vs Team Madferit.
From September 28th - October 11th we will be hosting the second edition of the Mystery Cup!
Mystery Cup is similar format to the Laver Cup except that it pits Team World No.1 vs Team World no.2 (as of the Monday following Roland Garros). This year the confirmed two highest ranked players are Gifu and Madferit.
The team roster pool comprises of the two highest ranked players, all active players who won a Grand Slam title in the past 24 months + other players, by order of WTSL ranking before the US Open and 3 picks each for the World Number 1 and World Number 2 of any player in the community for a total of 12 players.
The roster will be picked by Gifu and Madferit via a live snake draft on the eve of the event. They will each take turns at picking teammates from the roster pool and their free picks.
If any player(s) who automatically qualify for the initial 6 man pool confirm they are not available, the player(s) will be replaced with the next available player(s) by order of WTSL ranking. Hence this 6 player pool of automatic participants, may be continuously updated as the event gets closer.
Gifu and Madferit will always retain 3 picks of any player within the Tennis Elbow community. The 6 other players (3 picks each) will only be known when they are picked live at the draft by Gifu or Madferit (hence they may want to find out in advance if any particular player will play, if selected, knowing that either of them may end up drafting this player).
Characters will also be picked via a snake draft by each player on each team after the rosters are set, in reverse order from the team draft.
The team captains will be selected via a server wide poll of candidates of community legends or active players who will also be allowed to participate in the event.

Should a captain not be available, we will go down the list according to poll results. One captain will be assigned to each team via coin flip. The captain’s role is to galvanise the team and submit lineups.
The format of the event in terms of lineup and scoring will be identical to that of the Laver Cup as in the 2021-2024 editions, except its Team Madferit vs Team Gifu.
